intellectual property law

Intellectual property law covers all rights arising from "products of the mind", such as copyright, trademark rights, patents, design rights, database rights and so-called "neighbouring rights", i.e. the rights of performers such as actors and musicians.

Intellectual property law is a patchwork quilt with a strong international orientation. Companies as well as individuals face intellectual property law sooner than they think. Either because they themselves perform a service protected by intellectual property law or because they want to make use of someone else's work.

Because of the increasing digitalisation of society, intellectual property law issues frequently intertwine with ICT law. The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) only makes this more apparent.
